The KCT Group Trust partnered with the Last Wilderness Foundation (LWF) to
support initiatives focused on strengthening coexistence between forest-dependent
communities and wildlife in and around Bandhavgarh and Sanjay Tiger Reserve.
Human – wildlife interactions in shared landscapes often present challenges for both
communities and wildlife. Through this initiative, structured dialogue was facilitated between local villagers and the Forest Department to address conflict-related
concerns, improve awareness, and promote collaborative problem-solving.
Over the course of the engagement, outreach efforts reached approximately 1,000
individuals across 16 villages. The program encouraged participatory models that
brought together community members and authorities, helping foster mutual
understanding and long-term stewardship of forest ecosystems.
In addition, experiential community-based tourism models were supported to provide alternative livelihood opportunities. These these initiatives are designed so that
100% of proceeds directly benefit local communities, contributing to sustainable income generation while reducing pressure on forest resources.
